ODOT District Six has released its weekly report highlighting road construction projects which are beginning or underway in the multi-county area it serves. What follows are posted projects taking place within Delaware County.

Please stay safe and pay attention to these closures and work taking place during the week beginning on September 20.

U.S. Route 23

U.S. Route 23 barrier repair – Repair the retaining wall and bridge deck overlay on the U.S. 23 northbound ramp to E. William St. Estimated completion: Oct. 2020.

CONTINUING IMPACTS — The U.S. 23 northbound ramp to E. William St. will continue to be restricted to one lane through Oct. 2020.


U.S. Route 42

CONTINUING IMPACTS – U.S. Route 42 emergency culvert replacement and road repair – U.S. 42 between the city of Delaware and Horseshoe Road is closed due to a sinkhole that developed after recent heavy rains. Estimated completion: Sept. 2020. Detour: SR 37 to U.S. 23 to SR 229 or reverse.


U.S. Route 36

U.S. Route 36 intersection safety – Add left turn lanes on U.S. 36 and restricted crossing U-turn intersections (RCUT) at U.S. 36/ Lackey Old State Rd. and at U.S. 36/North Old State Rd. RCUTs are also known as J-Turns. Estimated completion: July 2022

CONTINUING IMPACTS — U.S. 36 eastbound and westbound between Lackey Old State Rd. and North Old State Rd. will be restricted to one lane in each direction starting Thursday, July 23 through Monday, October 12.


U.S. Route 36 safety upgrades – Widen U.S. 36 at Condit Rd. to add left turn lanes, install new traffic signals, and resurface U.S. 36 from south of Condit Rd. to north of Meredith State Rd. Estimated completion: Oct. 2020

CONTINUING IMPACTS — U.S. Route 36 eastbound and westbound between Condit Rd. and Meredith State Rd. will have daily lane restrictions starting Monday, August 10 through Thursday, October 15. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers.


To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed, and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone. Remember, move over or slow down.
