The City of Delaware has announced the replacement of a storm sewer at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Heritage Boulevard. This essential infrastructure work is set to take place on June 10, 11, and 12, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day.

Traffic Management and Road Closures

During the work hours, the intersection will be closed to ensure the safety of workers and residents. However, the intersection will re-open to traffic at the conclusion of each workday to minimize inconvenience.

Specific Road Closures

Pennsylvania Avenue will be closed to through traffic at the following points:

  • Troy Road
  • Euclid Avenue

Only local residents will have access to Pennsylvania Avenue between these intersections and Heritage Boulevard. Additionally, Oakwood Drive will only be accessible from Troy Road during the project period. This closure is necessary to facilitate the sewer replacement safely and efficiently.

Parking Restrictions

There will be parking restrictions on Oakwood Avenue near the intersection with Pennsylvania Avenue. These restrictions are crucial to ensure that the work can proceed smoothly and to maintain safety around the work zone.

Future Paving Plans

The sewer replacement is a preparatory step for the paving of Pennsylvania Avenue, scheduled to occur later this month. This advance work aims to ensure that the paving process is seamless and that the newly paved road remains in optimal condition for a longer period.

Resident Advisory

Residents in the affected areas are advised to plan their travel routes accordingly and to comply with the parking restrictions during the specified times. The City of Delaware appreciates the patience and cooperation of its residents as these improvements are carried out.
