The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is moving forward with its North America region redevelopment project, which will bring an enhanced experience to visitors. As construction ramps up, the zoo has announced a temporary closure of the main public pathway in the North America region, with a detour route available for guests.

Alternate Route for Visitors

To access North America, Polar Frontier, and Heart of Africa, visitors will begin their journey next to Village Coffee in Entry Village. From there, a walk down the shuttle pathway will lead guests to the intersection of all three regions. The zoo has ensured that clear signage will be in place, and updates will be available through the Columbus Zoo mobile app. Additionally, benches will be placed along the detour route for guests to rest during their walk.

Why the Closure?

The closure will allow crews to:
Demolish the existing pathway
Install a new walkway for the North America Trek
Erect fencing and other infrastructure along the new path

This essential work is part of a larger vision to modernize and improve the North America region, enhancing the zoo experience for both animals and visitors.

Timeline and Updates

The detour is expected to remain in place through May, though zoo officials will provide ongoing updates via their website and social media channels.

The Columbus Zoo appreciates the patience and support of guests during this exciting transformation. Visitors can stay informed by checking the zoo’s website or following them on social media for the latest construction updates.

🚶 Plan ahead, follow the signs, and enjoy your adventure at the Columbus Zoo!
