In an era where the educational landscape is rapidly evolving, parents and students in central Ohio are presented with a unique opportunity to explore a multitude of pathways towards academic and career success. The Delaware Area Career Center (DACC), in collaboration with At The Core, is set to host an enlightening event aimed at families of 6th to 9th graders from districts including Big Walnut, Buckeye Valley, Delaware, Olentangy, Westerville, and Worthington.

This initiative is designed to shed light on the array of options available in the later years of high school, such as Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), College Credit Plus (CCP), and specialized electives, both within and outside the high school curriculum.

The Delaware Area Career Center and At The Core are joining forces to offer a comprehensive discussion on the educational landscape, emphasizing the significance of career technical education and its integration with other high school options. Attendees will gain invaluable insights into DACC’s unique curriculum tailored for juniors and seniors, which includes “super-electives” that not only enhance a student’s college preparation plan but also offer a competitive edge in college applications and resumes.

A Pathway to Success

DACC’s programs are meticulously designed to empower students with confidence and clarity as they graduate, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges of higher education and beyond. By engaging in this discussion, parents and students will learn about the advantages of starting early in exploring and applying to these programs, most of which require application during the sophomore year. The event will cover essential aspects such as program offerings, application procedures, school day logistics, industry connections, and accommodations for students with an IEP/504 plan.

Broadening Horizons

Located at 4565 Columbus Pike, Delaware, the Delaware Area Career Center is renowned for its extensive array of more than 25 career and college-prep programs. These include fields as diverse as Bioscience, Engineering Technology, Digital Design, Culinary Arts, Exercise Science, Cybersecurity, Health Tech & Nursing, Welding, Pharmacy Technician, Wildlife & Resource Management, Robotics, Automation & Design, Early Childhood Education, and the Columbus Zoo School, among others. This event promises to be an invaluable resource for families looking to customize their child’s high school experience to pave the way for a successful future.

Registration for the March 6 event, which takes place from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, can be accomplished here.

For those requiring special accommodations, an ASL interpreter will be available upon request. Please reach out to Alicia Mowry at DACC to ensure your needs are met.

This special event is not just an opportunity but a crucial stepping stone for parents and students to become acquainted with the educational and career options that lie ahead. By fostering awareness and encouraging early planning, DACC and At The Core are equipping families with the tools necessary to navigate the complex world of high school education and beyond.
