The Delaware City Board of Education has announced that Keith Pomeroy will serve as the next superintendent of Delaware City Schools, marking the beginning of a new era in district leadership. Pomeroy, currently Chief Academic Officer at Upper Arlington City Schools, brings a broad base of experience, a collaborative mindset, and a student-centered approach that aligns with the district’s goals.

Board President Melissa Harris expressed the board’s enthusiasm about the appointment. “We followed a thorough process. It included planning with our facilitator, staff and community focus groups, reference checks, a leadership assessment, and two rounds of interviews with the board of education,” she said. “The board is excited for this new chapter in our district’s history and looks forward to Keith’s strong leadership.”

A Search for the Right Fit

The superintendent search, led by the Ohio School Boards Association, drew a diverse and talented group of candidates from across the state. In the end, Pomeroy’s open and collaborative leadership style, combined with his dedication to innovation and academic excellence, stood out.

“The search allowed us to reassure ourselves that Keith is the right person for this position at this time,” Harris said. “He will be highly visible in our schools, and we believe his presence will resonate with our students, staff, and community.”

Transition and Community Welcome

Keith Pomeroy will officially begin his role on August 1, 2025, pending approval of a three-year contract by the Board of Education at its meeting on Monday, July 14. To give the community an opportunity to get acquainted, an open house is scheduled for Wednesday, July 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Willis Education Center.

In preparation, district staff are actively planning orientation meetings, transition sessions, and opportunities for community engagement to ensure Pomeroy’s arrival is both seamless and celebrated.

Looking Ahead with Optimism

As Delaware City Schools looks to the future, the district is optimistic that Pomeroy’s leadership will guide them through a period of continued growth, innovation, and community partnership. With a strong foundation and a clear strategic vision, the district anticipates steady progress in curriculum development, student achievement, and overall school culture.
