Landmarks Of Delaware County: The Felkner-Anderson House

20 Jul , 2021

By 1808Delaware

They are called “I Houses,” and while Delaware County has several of them there is reputedly only one located in Scioto Township.

The house at 9716 Fontanelle Road dates from 1858, and was built by William Hall Felkner, replacing a log home dating from twenty years earlier built by his father Jacob. The Felkners were early settlers in western Delaware County, coming from Tennessee.

The phrase “I House” is not an official term, but it is a widely accepted way to describe houses from the early to mid 19th century across the Midwest and South that follow a particular pattern. More…

Ostrander Mayor Resigns

2 Dec , 2020

By 1808Delaware

In an announcement on the Village of Ostrander website and included in a series of tweets on Tuesday, Mayor Bob Taylor announced his resignation from that position effective “…later this month.”
Taylor’s announcement read as follows:

“I am proud to say that I have served the Village of Ostrander in one capacity or another for the past 12 years. I am proud of the achievements and growth of the village during that time. I am also proud to have served with so many dedicated people.

Today I am announcing my resignation as Mayor effective later this month. This is not the way I had envisioned ending my tenure but due to personal reasons, I must. I have discussed this decision with President Greasamar, who will assume the role of Mayor, and I am completely confident that the village will be in good hands with his leadership. There will be an election next year to formally fill my seat and I fully endorse Chris Greasamar for that role. Although I am resigning at the end of the month, Chris will take over many duties immediately. More…
