The world of color is opening up this June 19 and June 20 in the friendly confines of Boardman Arts Park in Delaware.

The park is hosting renowned colorist Maggie Maggio for “Smashing Color” workshops exploring color.

As shared by Maggie, “Color is a visual language that affects how we feel and how we engage with the world around us. Traditional color theory focuses on color for artists and designers but our world is changing and color theory is changing along with it. Fluency with the language of color sharpens our visual intelligence, expands our perceptions, and enhances our ability to communicate in our everyday lives. 21st century color literacy is not just for scientists and artists — it is for everyone!

I invite you to join me in the Arts Park for a day of exploring the new world of color. I will set up a collection of my favorite toys and products and lead you in a series of fun and informative exercises to introduce you to basic concepts in the science and art of color.

On Saturday, June 19, Maggio will present “The New World of Color: Exploring Color in the 21st Century” for those over age 14. The event will run from 10 AM to 5 PM with a break for lunch, and costs $75 including supplies and lunch – and you can take home a kolormondo to boot!

On Sunday, June 20, young artists, ages 6-14, and their arts-and-crafts loving families can attend a “Workshop for Youth and Their Families”, being held at two times, 1 PM to 2 PM or 3 PM to 4 PM. Tickets: Admission for each child is $5. Adults attend free with children.

Tickets for all workshops are available now and can be obtained here. For more information and the ticket link, visit the Boardman Arts Park on Facebook at facebook.com/boardmanartspark or visit boardmanartspark.org.

This workshop is possible through a grant from the Ohio Arts Council, and donations from Maggie Maggio, Sculpey, The Color Wheel Company, and Kolormondo. For more information on Maggie Maggio and Smashing Color, visit https://maggiemaggio.com/color/.

The Boardman Arts Park is located at 154 West William Street.
