Celebrated author Jeff Zentner, whose works have been translated into fifteen languages, will grace the Liberty Branch Library with his presence on July 8. Zentner, known for his New York Times Notable Books “The Serpent King” and “In the Wild Light,” as well as other titles such as “Goodbye Days” and “Rayne & Delilah’s Midnite Matinee,” will be discussing his writing journey and signing books for attendees.
Tickets for this can’t-miss event are complimentary, and registration is now open. However, seating is limited due to room capacity, so potential attendees are urged to secure their spots at the earliest. If you’re unable to attend after reserving a spot, please remember to cancel your reservation to allow others the chance to partake in this literary treat.
Zentner’s writing career is adorned with numerous awards, including the William C. Morris Award from the American Library Association, the Amelia Elizabeth Walden Award (which he has bagged twice), the Muriel Becker Award, and the International Literacy Association Award. His works have also been longlisted for the prestigious Carnegie Medal twice. Zentner’s accolades also extend to being a two-time finalist for the Southern Book Prize, a finalist for the Indies Choice Award, and being chosen as a Publishers Weekly Flying Start and an Indies Introduce pick.
Before embracing his calling as a writer, Zentner was a successful musician, recording with icons such as Iggy Pop, Nick Cave, and Debbie Harry. Today, he calls Nashville his home.
His interest in writing for young adults was sparked by his volunteering experience at the Tennessee Teen Rock Camp and Southern Girls Rock Camp. His love for books dates back to his childhood when his parents would drop him off at the library, where he would immerse himself in reading until closing time. His passion for literature remained strong through high school and college, during which he worked at various bookstores.
In addition to his literary and musical talents, Zentner is also a fluent Portuguese speaker, having spent two years living in the Amazon region of Brazil.
The event is set to kick off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, at the Liberty Branch Library, located at 7468 Steitz Road, Powell, OH 43065. After sharing his insights, Zentner will sign books for attendees, which will be available for purchase from Beanbag Books. The order of signing will be determined based on RSVPs made on the event registration page.
