Submitted by First Citizen Bank

Leadership succession changes have been announced at The First Citizens National Bank headquartered in Upper Sandusky, including the retirement of its long-time President and CEO, Mark Johnson, and the appointment of his successor, Jenny Romich. Additionally, Frank Reinhard has been named Chief Lending Officer, Doug Kelly Chief Credit Officer, and Kortney Buckland Chief Human Resource Officer.

The changes go into effect on April 17th this year.

The bank has a presence here in Delaware County and a Delaware Countian is among those receiving new leadership roles.

Mark Johnson first joined The First Citizens National Bank in 2000 as the Vice President of Business Development and Facilities and was promoted to Chief Operating Officer later that year. He was named President and CEO of FCNB in March 2001. During Mark’s tenure, the Bank has more than doubled in size.

As the President and CEO of The First Citizens National Bank, Mark Johnson has been honored to further the Bank’s mission throughout his career. “Creating a safe and sound banking environment and using that platform to serve your customers and communities is the main purpose of a community bank,” Johnson said. “And when I think about the positive impact the Bank’s team has had on the customers, families, and businesses we’ve served and supported in our communities, I couldn’t be prouder.”

The leadership succession planning undertaken by the Bank has been thorough and recognizes the emphasis placed on developing the Bank’s next generation of leaders to serve as stewards of the community banking mission. As a result, Johnson explains, “I am confident we will continue to make a difference in the lives of our customers and communities well into the future.”

Throughout his career, Johnson has been an active member of the community and has held various leadership roles. He served on the Board of Directors and as past President of the Wyandot County Office of Economic Development, and past President, Secretary/Treasurer and Audit Committee Chair of the Benevolent Protective Order Elks 83. He is also actively involved with the Wyandot County Special Olympics, 32 Degree Mason, Upper Sandusky Lodge, and the Upper Sandusky Rotary International Club.

Jenny Romich is the newly appointed President and CEO of the Bank. A native of Upper Sandusky, Romich started at The First Citizens National Bank as a teller in 1999. She has served in a variety of lending-related roles throughout her career: Loan officer, credit analyst, credit department manager, and she was appointed Chief Lending Officer in 2016 and to the Board in 2020. “Jenny Romich is well-positioned to step into this role and lead,” states Johnson. “Because she’s grown through the ranks here, she understands the people, the customers, the local businesses, and the mission of the Bank like no other candidate could.”

Romich shares the Bank’s belief that its long-term success is directly connected to the success of the communities it serves. Romich has a unique understanding and appreciation for the longstanding legacy of The First Citizens National Bank. Her great-great-great-grandfather, Thomas V. Reber, was President of the First National Bank, which later merged with Citizens Savings Bank in 1946 to form The First Citizens National Bank. Romich is the sixth generation of Reber to have ownership and involvement at the Bank.

Romich is an active participant in local community organizations such as the Upper Sandusky Rotary Club (Past President 2011 – 2012), President of the Board of Trustees of Upper Sandusky Community Library, and Member of the Wyandot County Advisory Council of United Way of North Central Ohio. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The Ohio State University and is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

In her role as President and CEO, Romich will be supported by Frank Reinhard, Doug Kelly, and Kortney Buckland, all of whom will be assuming new leadership responsibilities, and Pamala Baker and Jevon Reile who will remain in their current roles on the executive management team.

Frank Reinhard is the newly appointed Chief Lending Officer. In this role, he will oversee all lending activities, Business Development and Marketing. In his 25-year career as a commercial banker, Reinhard has been often recognized for his leadership and business expertise, including being named SBA Lender of the Year, and receiving a lifetime achievement award from the Delaware Chamber of Commerce. Reinhard joined the Bank in 2021. Reinhard is a native of Delaware, Ohio. His community involvement includes serving as Board Chair for the Delaware Area Chamber of Commerce and the Delaware County Fair Board. He currently serves on the Board of Directors as Treasurer for the Delaware County Finance Authority and is a board member and president of the Delaware Rotary Club. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Toledo and is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin– Madison.

Doug Kelly has been appointed Chief Credit Officer. In this role, Kelly will oversee the Bank’s credit activities, including the setting of credit policy and monitoring compliance with Federal and State regulations. Kelly began his banking career in 1989 and joined FCNB in 2017. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and Marketing with a minor in Finance from the University of Findlay. He is a graduate of the Agricultural School for Banking, Ohio School of Banking, and of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, where he also attained a Certificate of Executive
Leadership.

Kortney Buckland has been named to the new position of Chief Human Resource Officer. In this role, Buckland will retain responsibility for the Bank’s HR Department, plus ensuring that organizational values and behaviors are aligned with the Bank’s long-term vision and mission. Buckland earned her undergraduate degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management, from the College of Wilmington, Ohio. She has worked in banking for 13 years, with eleven spent at The First Citizens National Bank where she served as Controller before moving into the Human Resources
Department in 2021. She is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin– Madison, where she also attained a Certificate of Executive Leadership from the University.
