Updates have been shared this week by the City of Delaware concerning Martin Luther King Jr. Day and utility billing changes:

Martin Luther King Jr. Day Curbside Collections

City of Delaware residential refuse and recycling collections will take place on Monday, January 15, and collections for the week will on the regular schedule.

Refuse collection on the holiday is a change from previous years. The reason for the change is that “next day” collections extend the collection week to Saturday when the Delaware County Transfer Station, where all City trash is taken, has reduced hours. The station closes before we can complete that days route requiring garbage and recycling to be left on on our trucks over the weekend.

Most City offices will be closed on Jan. 15.

For more information regarding refuse and recycling services, visit this link, or contact Public Works by email or phone, 740-203-1810.

Utility Bill Mailing to City Customers Delayed

Updates to the new utility billing system are nearly complete but this has delayed the bill processing and mailing. Utility bills for December water, sewer refuse and storm water should start arriving in the mail late next week or the week of January 22. Because of this:

• No late payment fees will be charged in January

• No shut offs will take place in January

If you have a question about this or any other City of Delaware utility billing matter, please have them reach out to 740-203-1250 or UtilityBilling@delawareohio.net
