From record highs, Delaware County schools are now experiencing a rather sharp decline in reported infections of COVID-19 for children and staff. When the Ohio Department of Health shared updated numbers on Thursday, Delaware County districts and individual buildings reported a total of 85 infections in the last week in eight school settings. Two weeks ago, the number of total cases stood at 130. This week’s report included the following:

  • Big Walnut — 16 students
  • Buckeye Valley — 7 students
  • DACC — 4 students, 2 staff
  • Delaware City — 6 students, 1 staff
  • Genoa Christian Academy — 1 student
  • Olentangy — 35 students, 9 staff
  • St. Paul Before/After — 1 student
  • St. Paul –3 students

Fortunately, this downward trend is matched by a similar decline in long term care facility numbers (assisted living, nursing centers). As of Wednesday, that staff and resident total stood at just two:

  • County View of Sunbury — 2 residents

Numbers are released each Thursday in Columbus.
