Everyone is invited to cheer on the Ohio Wesleyan University football team for free September 28 during Bishop Backer Fall Community Day. The Battling Bishops will take on the Allegheny Gators at 1 PM at Selby Stadium, 45 S. Henry St., Delaware.

The September 28 game also will be a Coach to Cure MD event with fans invited to help support the battle against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The one-day national event is a project of Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy in partnership with the American Football Coaches Association. Over the last 11 years, Coach to Cure MD has raised more than $2.1 million for Duchenne research.

The free Bishop Backer game also will be an Honorary Coaches Game, with alumni who helped to establish OWU’s tradition of football excellence on the sidelines with the team.

“On behalf of the Bishop Backers, I’d like to invite everyone to join us for Community Day,” said Doug Zipp, OWU athletics director. “The game is our way to thank everyone for all of the support you show OWU’s student-athletes and 25 varsity teams throughout the year.”

During the regular season, admission for ticketed OWU athletics events is $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens, students, and children. Admission is free for Ohio Wesleyan students with a valid university ID.

Individual all-sports season passes are available through the OWU Athletics Department at a cost of $50. Call (740) 368-3726 or visit www.battlingbishops.com for more information, including the university’s complete fall athletics schedule.
