Earlier this year, Texas-based Pier I filed for bankruptcy.

Now, with the coronavirus pandemic’s dramatic impact on the country’s retail industry, the chain has been forced to abandon hopes of finding a buyer and has received court approval to close all 450 stores.

As shared by the company, “Ultimately, due to the combination of a challenging retail environment and the new reality and uncertainty of a post-COVID world, we and our advisors determined that we will wind down the business.”

It is unknown when the location at 1320 Polaris Parkway will close, however the company says that all Pier 1 stores will be shuttered before the end of the year.

According to the chain website, the online store component of Pier 1 will be in operation through July. Going out of business sales will be ongoing once court approval is received.
